War of Strife and Sorrow
The great war began as a whisper, first in the minds of a few, and later as the corruption known as “the fade”. The War of Strife and Sorrow marked both the beginning and the end of a dark chapter, leaving scars across the landscape of the world and the hearts of those who lived through it.
Countless souls were lost during the war, which notably began with an invasion of dark creatures from the frozen north, entering the dwarven realm of Drundaru. Led by plague witches, these dark forces attacked the saena tree, setting it ablaze with a plague fire that desecrated both the tree and the surrounding lands.
The Saena Wardens, who were the first to be attacked, were forced to retreat south, with only a few survivors reaching the dwarven kingdom of Klindroin. Not long after, word was sent to the other realms across Auro, but nothing could prepare the people for the dark incursions soon to beset their homelands.
The people of Auro rose up to defend their lands from the devastation that the dark master, Ohrimah [aka Merdah], sought to unleash. The forces of light halted the dark army that aimed to plunge the world into an age of shadow. However, their victory came at great cost. The war ended in 9920 1A after a final assault on the elven city of Valenthreas, which ended in devastating loss and destruction.
