The Dahaka

Born from the mutilation of the sacred dragons—nearly all of whom were killed during the War of Strife and Sorrow—this creature resembles the dragons but is nearly four times larger than even the greatest of those known to have existed. It was Master Ohrimah who chose to create this behemoth, after capturing the most powerful dracos that led the various dragon castes.

During the Dahaka’s creation, Ohrimah poured into the beast all his malice and hatred for the beloved Auron king and queen, molding it to embody every vicious quality he could manifest. In the end, the Dahaka bore little resemblance to the sacred auvinots it had been intended to mimic. The creature was unleashed in the great war, laying siege to many cities and ultimately bringing about what is believed to be the extinction of the dragons.

The Dahaka was subservient only to its rider, Grindam, and to the will of the dark master who had forged it. Its final moments marked the end of the Great War, when the beast and its rider attacked the sacred city of Valenthreas. Though the Dahaka was vanquished, it came at a great cost. Its remains now lie on the outskirts of Valenthreas, where the Dragonstrike Woods have grown dense and dark over the centuries—a brutal reminder of all that was lost.
